San Gervasio Information

San Gervasio, an ancient Maya city on the island of Cozumel, is the site of one of the most important encounters in World History and a place that you won’t want to miss on your visit to Cozumel. You can walk the grounds where Hernan Cortes and his men first encountered the Maya civilization in the New World. Escape down jungle paths and see the monuments where Maya women traveled from great distances to plead with the goddess Ixchel for the chance to bear children. Download and listen to the TekTrek audio guide of San Gervasio and hear the stories of the Maya and their encounter with the Spanish as they meet for the first time.
